Benefits of Connecting w/God

How a breakup led me to reflecting on the benefits of connecting with God. Journal prompt for you to reflect as well!

Faith

A few weeks ago, I was hit with a new level of hurt that my heart wasn’t expecting nor ready to fully encounter- a breakup sent via text.

My heart was shattered. Anger, confusion, and despair collided my heart and my mind. My tears soaked my pillows, dripping from the side of my cheeks, down to my neck. Days had passed, and the tears would go away, only to creep back up, sending me in another cycle of utter disbelief.

How did this even happen? Desiring answers but blocked to receive any, I ran to the One who would always be by my side, God.

Whether or not you are a believer, know Yahweh (God) intimately, or if you are slightly intrigued as to why you should desire a relationship with your Creator, I am here to share with you how this journal prompt served me in my healing process.

So girl, grab your journal, a cup of tea and begin to explore the benefits of an intimate relationship with God.

During the first two weeks of my relationship ending, I journaled about 3 to 4 times a day. I had plenty of thoughts, poems, and prayers that I needed to release. One evening, after venting to God and asking for His wisdom, I felt compelled to list out the benefits of connecting with God. Now, if you’re a super religious person thinking “how dare she try to sell God!!”, I need you to calm down. That is truly NOT what I am trying to accomplish here.

I sat down with my pen in hand, and tears streaming down my cheek, in gratitude because my hope was in Jesus. I knew that my relationship with Yeshua was so important and that He would literally never forsake me. This reminder led me to list out all of the other incredible insights that I had known and even experienced about God.

So, if you haven’t started writing or if you need a visual understanding (totally get that, I am a visual learner myself), here is what I had listed in my journal:

Benefits of an intimate relationship with Yahweh

Never ending love– like literally. Even when you’re crazy and cranky or PMS’ing. He will love you always.

Fully sustained in Him– and though I forget it and try to find other things or people to sustain me, I know that only He can.

Doesn’t give up on me– and when others fail me, God will never forsake me. Even when I am incredibly impatient with myself or people.

He is always in pursuit of my soul- and how flattering right?! The God of the Universe wants me to reside in HEAVEN with Him one day! Little ole me?! The same applies to you too love.

I only have to submit to Him– this is for my single girls!! We have no man to submit to, only our Heavenly Father 🙂

Adventures are never boring with God– He legit had me quit my 9-5, go off to Greece for a Writer’s Retreat, and then landed me a job paying me 2x more after putting my trust into Him. Oh, and He brought me to California and surprised me by allowing me to keep my job, transferring me into a remote employee.

New levels of wisdom– when I actually sit to listen, I get so much discernment on people and ideas from God. This has actually saved me headaches and curved people with ill motives.

Challenges to grow me– though they aren’t always fun, God challenges me right before bringing me to a new level in life.

Gifted the Holy Spirit– and YES, you need the Holy Spirit while on Earth. He is your Guide, Protecter, and Teacher.

God dates are incredibly peaceful- when taking yourself out on a date, inviting Jesus only makes it better. I finally realized this when moving to California being out here by myself.

Peaceful sleep– I go to sleep at night knowing that God is faithful. He isn’t out being trifling in these streets.

No fears that God will “check out on me”– this goes back to His endless love for me. I have had so many people walk out of my life but guess what? God will always be with me.

I learn more about myself– and this isn’t some “going to find myself” discovery. No, as I learn more about God, I learn more about myself. Because we are made in His image.

God values my time– and He surely won’t waste it. We all know some time wasters 🙂 🙂 🙂

God isn’t a liar– and thank GOD! We have enough of those around here.

He can literally heal all things– Without a relationship with God, I would be a lot worse than I am right now. It is truly because of His hand being on my heart, that I am not in a worse space.

It was so refreshing to be reminded of all of the times and moments where God has been so kind and loving to me. Listing out the benefits of an intimate relationship with God truly impacted my healing process. If you are in a tough season, or if you are just desiring to embrace a new level of connecting with God, I challenge you with this journal prompt!
